I've been playing Splitgate for a long, long time now. It's honestly one of the maybe 2 games I still play daily?
I fell away from gaming for a long while because of work, being exhausted, etc (y'know, stupid adult stuff). But when I came across this game, for whatever reason, I was hooked. To me it felt like MW2 + Halo had a baby but like... it was unique in it's own way and still stood out to me.
Simply put:
- queue times aren't long at all.
- gameplay rounds/matches are pretty average - not too long that it's frustrating and tedious, and not too short that you feel like you're spending more time in the lobby than in the game.
- you don't have to pay to play - you can easily unlock items through daily challenges, among other challenges and achievements listed.
- with that being said... you can change the appearance/skins of everything. your gear, your weapons, etc.
- IMO gaining XP isn't difficult at all. Especially in certain game modes.
- There are A LOT of different game modes to choose from. If you've played CoD you'll be familiar with some of them- but then there's also a lot of unique ones that (I personally, at least) haven't seen anywhere before.
- Guys.... it's free. You can't beat a free game, even if it's just to try out.
I love the game, so of course I see a lot of pros to it- but I do have one con. The game is very... quiet. Sure there's sound effects (your typical battle sounds; shootings, explosions, commentary "one minute remaining!" type stuff) but other than that, there's like no background noise. It's just one of those random things that oddly irk me for some odd reason- so I always have music playing whenever I'm in a match. Also, that probably won't be an issue for a lot of people who play w/ friends and are on mic with people. I play solo lol
