Events of Neverwinter unfold in one of the most popular worlds Dungeons & Dragons - The Forgotten Realms. The focus of attention is the continent of Faerun, where the city-state of Neverwinter is located. It is called the Pearl of the North, and for no apparent reason: by the recognition of many, this is the most civilized and progressive place on the whole continent.
According to the amendments introduced by the fourth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, Neverwinter was very unlucky. First on it struck the Sorceress Plague - and the city miraculously survived. But soon the volcano woke up nearby, and he had already completed the deal, leveling Neverwinter with the earth. Now most of the city was rebuilt, but in the remaining ruins rogues and various evil spirits settled, and behind the wall creatures are much more creepy.

IT IS INTERESTING: The Sorceress Plague is not a disease at all, but a catastrophe of interplanetary scale. Once the goddess of magic Mystra was destroyed by two other demiurge, Sirik and Shar. With the death of Mystra, the incantations ceased to work as expected, and throughout Toril (the planet where Forgotten Realms are located), a fatal magical flame began to flash, which was accompanied by a succession of cataclysms.
The plot of Neverwinter is a series of sketches about how he lives on Feirun after the disaster. It is generally not bad, but the pitch spoils the impression: telling about something, the game simply shows your eyes the walls of a solid text through which you can still go through. In the IMO, built on the history, it is not necessary to make cut scenes of The Secret World and The Old Republic (there are still other budgets), but in the end, look at Guild Wars 2 and Final Fantasy XIV - there every plot task preceded by a simple sketch. The formulation is uncomplicated, but very animated quest briefings.
The fights here are something in between the battles in slashers and the classic MMO-boevka. We can swing and cast spells to where the sight is looking, but all attacks, except for the skills of mass destruction, are rigidly fixed on the victim caught in the crosshairs. That is, purely technical fixation of the goal from the traditional MMO has not gone away - the developers tried to disguise it, but the whiskers of the old engine, on which Cryptic did Champions and Star Trek Online, still stick out. After Vindictus and TERA, this approach is not very impressive, although it works more or less acceptably.
The battle NPC satellite, which very soon joins us, well complements your hero. Different partners are relevant in different situations. In instances, a strong warrior gets along well with a healer, and in simple PvE-races he will be more comfortable with a combat mage - faster grow up. It's a shame only that companions are suitable only for battles. In the story they do not play any role.
Although the situation in Faer накаn is heated, the heroes do not lose heart. The developers have tried to do everything to make the player live as freely as possible. Locations, for example, are arranged in such a way that it is impossible to miss all the necessary passages, quests, places you are supposed to visit - even if you really want to. It is very convenient, if you aspire to run the story campaign as quickly as possible, but generally for online roleving with the open world this is quite a controversial decision. The research component in Neverwinter is reduced to almost zero.
Then, with the help of blood, extracting production materials, and then dragging them into the city for recycling - that's what we learned from the crafts profession in other online games. Neverwinter comes easy: if there are ingredients, you can choose the desired action, and it will be executed by the background. At this time, do whatever you want: at least go to the dungeon, even if you quit the game altogether.
