If you haven't played the original game, then playing Magicka 2 will surely charge you with an extra dose of fun. "Fun" is a word that is common in gaming, but certainly not every game deserves it. Luckily, Magicka 2 at its core is just that unmatched entertainment.
Magicka 2 is an action-packed role-playing game in which 1 to 4 wizards can take part in an adventure in Midgard to free the land from the chains of evil. Each magician has 8 separate spells associated with the various elements, which in turn can be combined to create even more powerful spells. Each combination can include up to 5 elements, which definitely gives you plenty of options if you want to experiment. The basics of the spells are known variants - water overcomes fire, ice can freeze water, and electricity can be used to power some of the machines around you. Sometimes these combinations prove to be strange, for example, combining life and death you become partially invulnerable by various attacks.
Having considered all of these variations, the number of combinations may seem quite confusing and big, but Magicka 2 is actually quite simple as to what you can do. So you will soon master some pretty impressive combo attacks, of course, much of the fun is related to team play. The chaos of having four magicians on the screen doing both different and destructive spells is definitely a terrific sight. At first, its fun to watch your spells literally devourer your teammates, but you really have to be careful with friendly fire. In addition, team-play is certainly the better way to go through the campaign, not that it's impossible to play it yourself, but it's not that fun.
Whether you are alone or in a group, Magicka 2 is a game that quickly raises a smile on the face. Funny replicas and various references to established clichés in the fantasy genre follow one after another and definitely bring out the comic element in the game.
But Magicka 2 is above all a game, and it’s evident from those irritating moments when things are not going well - levels that are confusing or moments when enemies suddenly turn out to be too strong (a typical example is the eighth chapter). Overall, however, the campaign maintains a positive impression and should not be given up when you encounter one or two heavier moments.
Purely visually Magicka 2 is pleasing to the eye and impresses with the slightly cartoony look of the original, combined with a good variety of different locations. Fortunately, unlike the original, there are no technical problems here and the FPS is stable enough. The battles in the game are so dynamic that any delay would be fatal.
Magicka 2 is fun when you play it by yourself and many times better when you're with friends. Leaving some minor issues aside, the game maintains a constant level of charm and. Maybe gamers have the right to require more than one sequel, but if recently your games seem too serious or impersonal, Magicka 2 can definitely fix your mood.
