Xbox Series X will Use the SEGA Name in Japan

[Rumor] The Xbox Series X Console will Use the SEGA Name in Japan

The console industry is currently dominated by several companies such as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Usually each region or country has its own fans and sometimes a console doesn't sell well in certain places. The most interesting case is the Xbox case which only has 1% sales in Japan. Especially because Sony and Nintendo arguably dominate the market.

Reporting from gamers, Sega's 60th anniversary is almost here and the company is celebrating it very well. There is already a warning website prepared for this event, but rumors are circulating that Sega will also announce a major announcement. There is a lot of speculation and rumors about what the news can be, but according to sources that tease information, it will shake everything in the game industry.

Japanese technology journalist Zenji Nishikawa is the source of all the latest excitement, tempting at first that he has news from a gaming company that everyone likes, then reveals that the company in question is Sega. Microsoft has been at the center of most speculation, with many assuming that the announcement would be the acquisition of the Sega company. In recent years, Microsoft has acquired left and right game studios, so it's not entirely out of the question.

Another assumption is that Microsoft and Sega have instead reached an agreement, allowing the upcoming Xbox Series X to be distributed under the name Sega in Japan. This change in marketing strategy can help Microsoft by making use of the familiar sege brand.

As we know, sales of Xbox One are pretty bleak in Japan, so they need help in marketing their products. If that is indeed the case, then using the name Sega is certainly a good idea. Moreover, Sega has not yet launched a console, where we remember that Dreamcast was released in 1998 the last Sega console.

A leaked advertisement that featured Sega and Microsoft in April showed a kind of partnership. The leak is a screenshot of an ad originally planned for E3 2020 which is now canceled. The Sega and Microsoft logos alongside the words "power your dreams" underneath reinforce these rumors.

The audience does not have to wait long to find the truth, because there is a possibility everything is set to be revealed this week. Sega's 60th birthday celebration officially began on June 3, but big announcements might come afterwards. According to many sources, Sega will release all of them at the Guerrilla Collective digital game fest, which runs from June 6-8.

Therefore, this is still a rumor and not to be trusted. Especially before there was an official notification from Sega. We will look forward to the official announcement during the anniversary celebration of Sega. At the same time it is likely that many other interesting news will appear of course.
