In the midst of the one of the craziest updates we’ve seen in Dota 2, the current and two-time TI winners, OG, have released a video featuring two rather big announcements; N0tail is now the coach and they will not compete in the second Major of the Dota 2 Pro Circuit season.
After we saw that OG, along with the rest of the top four from The International 2019, were not present in the regional closed qualifier direct invites, it was assumed that the team would be making their way through the open qualifiers. With the second Major of the DPC season approaching, OG have now announced that they would not be attending. In a short video released on Twitter just a few moments ago, OG confirmed with a message at the end of the video that, “N0tail & the boys will not compete in the 2nd Major…”
The rest of the video also has something pretty interesting to announce it seems, as Titouan ‘Sockshka’ Merloz is seen handing a stack of notes (with Anathan ‘Ana’ Pham’s IO clearly on the front page) to Johan ‘N0tail’ Sundstein and saying, “You are the coach now”.
While we have no further information about either the coaching change at OG nor as to why they have chosen to not participate in the upcoming Leipzig Major qualifiers, we do know that OG enjoy taking things slow when it comes to qualifying for TI. It is also entirely possible that the video is a slight ‘jebait’ from OG as Sockshka is seeing playing Counter Strike Global Offensive, but for now it would seem as though we won’t see the TI champions in Dota 2 for a short time.
If any further information comes to light on this, we will be sure to bring it to you as soon as possible.
